The prison system is a complex, multi-layered institution designed to enforce justice, uphold laws, and rehabilitate those who have committed crimes. However, the reality of incarceration often diverges sharply from these intended goals. Among the many narratives that emerge from life behind bars, one particularly pervasive belief is that incarcerated individuals are subjects of secret experiments. This mass delusion, while seemingly irrational from the outside, is a product of the psychological and social conditions unique to prison life. At the same time, the very system meant to reform individuals frequently reinforces the very behaviors it seeks to eradicate, creating a self-perpetuating cycle of criminality.
