How often are voices raised at your house?
While conflict can be healthy and promote personal growth, constant conflict can suffocate relationships. Parents who engage in a battle over every little thing they don’t like, from an unmade bed to a poor test grade, will find that they’re losing ground. Eventually the constant bickering will cause an increase in resentment that’s very difficult to overcome.
It’s essential to the life of the family—and to the sanity of each person—to identify the important battles that need to be fought. Once that’s done, let the less important battles take care of themselves!
So, if you live in a home where voices are constantly raised, why not call a truce? And choose your battles very carefully.
