I built this set around the idea of losing yourself inside the machine. Sixteen tracks tracing a line between hypnotic restraint and physical intensity, where repetition becomes obsession and small details carry the weight of the entire room. From shadowy, stripped-back rhythms to full-bodied, relentless pressure, the sound evolves without ever asking for attention — it demands surrender. No nostalgia, no formula, no easy release. Just a carefully controlled descent into the darker corners of techno, where the hours blur and the machinery never stops moving.

A descent into the deeper machinery of techno.

Across 22 tracks, this set traces a gradual movement from cold, spacious abstraction into increasingly dense and physical territory. It begins with the stark atmosphere of Sandwell District's Surrender To The Unknown, establishing the mood immediately: restrained, hypnotic and slightly disorientating. From there, Singular Sounds, Anthony Linell and Takaaki Itoh deepen the sense of space, introducing fractured rhythms, distant atmospheres and an increasingly persistent pulse.

The first major shift arrives through Reeko, Michel Lauriola and Bastian Balders. The sound becomes heavier without becoming obvious — more pressure, more movement, but still with enough space for the details to breathe. PSYK & ORBE's Grinder and Regis' Backwards Man push the set further into raw, industrial territory, connecting contemporary hypnotic techno with the uncompromising lineage that runs through Downwards, Sandwell District and the darker edges of the European underground.

From Oscar Mulero through Stanislav Tolkachev and Myk Deril, the mix enters its most hypnotic phase. Repetition becomes the main instrument. Small changes in percussion, frequency and texture continually alter the atmosphere while the underlying momentum remains locked. NWHR, Lakej and A Paul then increase the physical weight, shifting the set from cerebral immersion towards something more visceral.

The final movement is where the pressure really begins to accumulate.

Oliver Rosemann's Something Wonderful Will Happen and Brandon DE CARLO's The Dregs Of mark the transition into a harder, more immediate section, followed by Chlär's Serac and PS11's Mid Point. Lobster's Fenris pushes the pace further before EDIT SELECT strips everything back into a darker, relentless form of propulsion.

The journey ends with Sciahri's Moonwake — not a conventional release, but the final transformation of everything that came before it: deep low-end pressure, futuristic textures and hypnotic percussion condensed into one final, forward-driving statement.

There is no reliance on obvious breakdowns or easy peaks here. The tension is built through accumulation — rhythm against texture, density against space, repetition against subtle change.

This is techno as a continuous pressure system: cold at the beginning, increasingly physical as it develops, and ultimately uncompromising.

A dark, heads-down trip through the more uncompromising corners of techno. This mix locks into a hypnotic groove early, weaving together dubbed-out atmospherics, metallic percussion and heavyweight kicks before gradually pushing deeper into the industrial end of the spectrum.

With cuts from Regis, Surgeon, Reeko, Oscar Mulero, Efdemin and Jammie Bissmire sitting alongside newer, lesser-known pressure from PWCCA, Alarico, NWHR and Bias, it’s a selection that bridges techno’s past and present without ever losing sight of the dancefloor. Cold, hypnotic and relentlessly physical, this is built for dark rooms, big systems and the hours when things start getting properly strange.

This set is a study in controlled pressure.

It begins somewhere beneath the surface — LAST LIFE, Claudio PRC, Fernie, Distant Echoes — where rhythm is still half-hidden inside atmosphere. Slowly, the machinery emerges. Vohkinne, Takaaki Itoh and The Black Dog bring the pulse into focus; Linear System, Cleric, Phase Fatale / Silent Servant and Slit Observers turn that pulse into something colder, harder and increasingly physical.

But the set never follows the obvious route.

Deep techno gives way to industrial tension. Electro cuts through the machinery. Hypnosis replaces impact, then impact returns. Steve Bicknell and Regis act as ghosts in the architecture, connecting the present to a darker lineage of techno built on repetition, restraint and refusal. Contemporary voices — TENSAL, Qualza, NWHR, SARF, Lakey and others — push those ideas forward without abandoning their roots.

There is no conventional peak here. Instead, the pressure circulates.

Dark Tech Selections Vol. 261 is a journey through the darker, more hypnotic side of techno — moving between industrial pressure, deep atmospheric space, experimental textures and stripped-back machine rhythms.

The set is built around tension and contrast rather than constant intensity. It begins with the industrial weight of Ancient Methods and gradually moves through the deeper, more spacious worlds of Luigi Tozzi, Vladw and CUT before becoming increasingly fractured and abrasive through ASC, Oxygeno, Stanislav Tolkachev and Dimi Angelis.

From there, the energy becomes more physical. Giving Ground provides a moment of space before the set rebuilds through NWHR, Lars Huisman and the Regis / Mark Broom interpretation of Escape. That moment also connects the contemporary sound of the set back to the Birmingham and Detroit foundations of techno, before moving into the faster, more driving territory of Dextro, Kafarsoussa, A.Paul, Rosemann and Bidoben.

The final section is about compression and release. Robert Hood strips the sound back to its essential rhythmic elements, Jamie Bissmire rebuilds the machinery, and UVB's Pressure Me and PLANET RHYTHM's - Observe brings the journey to its natural conclusion.

Rather than aiming for a conventional peak-time progression, the set is about creating and manipulating pressure — allowing space when necessary, introducing abrasion when it matters, and gradually shifting the listener from atmosphere to physical intensity.

The intention was to make the 22 tracks feel less like a collection of records and more like one continuous piece of machinery: dark, hypnotic, industrial and constantly moving between control and chaos.

Inspired by Birmingham's Tunnel Club, it embraces the uncompromising spirit of the underground—raw, immersive, and made for dark rooms where rhythm becomes the only language.
