It's The Phantom!
This movie exists in the sweet spot of not being bad, bordering on fun but being completely and utterly forgettable. I genuinely can't even remember which movie we're talking about now. I can, of course. It's 1996's The Phantom.
Plus!
Someone apparently wrote a script - AS A JOKE - that wasn't meant to be made with a bad ending. Allegedly, most of that is in this movie. Listen to find out our thoughts on it. Particularly Madge's because she didn't know this clever fact going on in and deduces that there's something not right with the dialogue. Again, there's a lot to like including the performances. There's just something off about the whole thing and the ending is a bit out of nowhere. Worth a watch though and this episode is worth a bloody listen.
Also!
Did you know that Phantom writer, Lee Falk, basically invented superheroes and how they look? It's true! Forget Superman and Batman and all that. The Phantom and a dear magician friend of his are the ones who deserve the credit. Listen for the full anecdote and an absolute gem of a story about how The Phantom managed to work his way into tribal culture for real!
Thanks for listening. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you really want to.
