Corner Booth at Rex's

Our newest Corner Booth at Rex’s is on the HBO Max and DC TV show, Lanterns. Both of us had this show on our most anticipated of 2026. It’s possible that our high expectations led to more disappointment, but it’s hard to separate those things at this point of the process. Byers is less critical than Troy who viewed this too much through the “it’s nothing like the comics” lens. We left the proceedings hopeful that there is a season 2 and that they learn a lot of lessons.

We've hit the quarter mark of the season (sort of) and so we're here to correct all our mistakes, I mean update our tier rankings and talk about the biggest suprises and disappointments of the season so far.

Everyone’s on their way out…act accordingly. Our newest episode is a breakdown of the Martin Scorsese classic, The Departed. This is probably the fastest squirrel we’ve ever chased, which is impressive for us, as we discuss whether there is a different word for the male muse. We’ve also probably made some enemies based on our lead in on Scorsese’s filmography, but as you can tell we aren’t too fussed about it. We also dive into how this is a perfect cable movie to spare you the horror of watching the full version with your parent(s).

That Thing You Do

This week we’re heading back to 1964 to revisit the greatest fictional one-hit wonder of all time: The Oneders (that’s O-N-E-D-E-R-S, folks).

We’re talking catchy songs,terrible band names, questionable contracts and the meteoric rise and spectacular unraveling of a band that was, as one might say, too cool for school.

 So grab your shades, hop in this really nice camper, and enjoy the ride with Cap'n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters as we talk about That Thing You Do!
