The Theater on Bleecker — Fexingo Horror

The Photograph That Held My Mother's Face

Listen Later

Luna stands at the end of a hallway lined with photographs of her mother's childhood, each image aging backward as she watches. Clara's ghost leads her toward a new door that appears at the far end, but the shadow from the photographs speaks in her mother's voice, warning her that the original door she entered as an infant is not what she remembers. Luna reaches for the door handle and feels it grow cold—and when she opens it, she finds herself in a room that is both her mother's bedroom and the theater's prop room, containing a trunk full of letters from a woman who claims to be Luna's grandmother. The letters reveal that the curse began not with Marguerite in 1912, but with a bargain struck in 1889—a bargain that Luna's great-grandmother made with the theater itself. Luna must decide whether to read the final letter, which promises to name the price of the bargain, as the shadow child grows behind her and the photographs on the walls begin to cry tears of ink.
