Hello from the indoor studio in beautiful and HOT Phoenix, Arizona. Thank you for tuning into Episode 11 of the Pickleball 5.0 Podcast Show.
In this episode, I share what, in my opinion, is the number one reason people are quitting pickleball. It is also the reason I had to quit playing this past year.

This was somewhat of a lost interview I found! Alex is a "young" 34 and has a really great attitude as well as an addiction to this game.
Listen in as we sat down in the Kilauea gym on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii and talk about how he found the game of pickleball. He was humbled his first time out by a group of 60+ year olds :)
Shout out to Pickleball Central ... great service and company.

A post in one of the Facebook forums about a YEAR ago caught my attention. A community member asked the question, "What is driving you away from pickleball?"
What was even more surprising was that if was raised by a person I saw as one of the most positive members of the forum!
Listen in as I read the responses, give my OPINION, and share 8 suggestions for keeping pickleball play on the social level encouraging, welcoming, and FUN!

See you on the court!
As a member of a pickleball Facebook group, one you probably are as well, tI see posts weekly on the topic and interpretations of the rules of the game.
I usually skip those running discussions but one I followed for a few comments had a link from one of the members to a quiz from the USAPA on the rules of the game.
In this episode, I take the risk of embarrassing myself and complete the quiz "live" ... it's 50 questions all about playing pickleball.
How did I do? Listen to Episode 8 to find out. Play along.
If you would like to take the quiz, go here: The USAPA Rules Test
It was fun ... and educational.

Welcome back to the PB 5.0 Pickleball Show. It's Episode 007 ... Bond style.
Just returned from visiting special family members -- granddaughters in Austin, Texas; Shelbyville, Kentucky.
I had wonderful times playing at the recreation center in Cedar Park (north Austin) and the Tom Sawyer State Park gym/rec center in Louisville, KY. Met some really good people in both locales.
In this episode I discuss a widely debated topic both on and off the court, IN or OUT -- line calls. I watched a video produced by The Pickleball Channel that "opened my eyes" with regard on making the correct call.
And honestly, I believe way too many calls we make with regard to close ones, those that land NEAR the line whether in or out, are called wrong. Especially if one has lots of tennis playing experience.
When in doubt, it's in! For the sake of the spirit of the game and social play.
And I have a surprise guest that dropped in live to the show, Alexa! Don't miss what she has to say about Pickleball. Who is she? Listen and find out. My guess is most of you know her!

If you listen on Apple Podcast or another platform, I would greatly appreciate a nice rating :) Thank you so much.
Thank you for listening. Hope to meet you on a court where I promise to call all those close line calls IN for me ... OUT for you ... wait .... Haha!
Now go play!

Today's episode was recorded in Kilauea, Kauai after a morning of playing the game on the North shore of Kauai. Ted Steinberg shares his story on finding the game. He's proof one does not have to have a past history playing racquet sports to enjoy it or to become a very good player.
Ted is a great ambassador for the sport and has helped create a really dynamic group of players here. I enjoyed talking with him and after learning his age (which he freely shared) proves one can play pickleball *well* into our senior years!
If you visit Kauai, you will love playing at the Kilauea gym or Princeville park. For contact info and information on pickleball on island, visit the site Jack Hodges has set up and regularly updates - Kauai Pickleball < -- Click link
I will be visiting the Phoenix, AZ area the week prior to Thanksgiving and Louisville, KY during the week of Thanksgiving. If you have a recommendation for play in these locales, drop me a line at our email: pickleballpodcast @ gmail . com (no spaces) It would be great to meet you and play!
Also -- I've only lost 2 games in the last 2 weeks after doing this ... find out what that was!
PB 5.0 quote of the cast: see that here - Pickleball Podcast Instagram
Your WHY is more important than your WIN
See ya on the court.
In today's show I sit down at the courts in Hanapepe, Kauai and talk with Jack Hodges. He is the ambassador of the sport for the state of Hawaii.
Jack shares his story how he came to be such a fan of the sport ... it took him over a year of invites from his sister! He has personally introduced the game to over 1000 people. Jack is the person who gave the clinic I attended just about 6 months ago here on the island.
He shares his experiences and perspectives on the wonderful attributes of the game and the fun community it creates.
Sit back, enjoy our conversation and the sounds of the games being played at courtside as well the sounds of this island. You will hear the roosters who roam it and crow day and night!
If you are visiting Kauai and want to play, Jack keeps all the information updated here, Kauai Pickleball. < -- Click link.
