Six months ago, I thought I knew what my life was going to look like. I was married, living in the country, trying to have a baby, and planning for a future that felt pretty set.
Now I’m 29, getting divorced, living in a one-bedroom apartment in the city with my dog, buying furniture again, dating again, and figuring out who I am outside of a relationship.
In this first episode, I’m talking about what starting over actually feels like. Not the polished version. The weird, lonely, freeing, embarrassing, exciting version.
We talk about grieving the future you thought you were going to have, learning how to make decisions for yourself again, navigating everyone else’s opinions, feeling “behind” compared to people your age, and rediscovering the small things that make you feel like yourself again.
Including sausage.
Because apparently sometimes rebuilding your life looks less like a dramatic transformation and more like realizing you can finally make the breakfast you actually want.
This podcast is not about having all the answers. I definitely do not have them. It is about figuring it out in real time and being honest about what it looks like to rebuild your life when the original plan changes.
In this episode:
Quote from the episode: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” — Henry Ford
If your life looks nothing like the plan right now, you’re in good company.

The Plot Twist Era is a podcast about starting over when life looks nothing like you thought it would. Hosted by Rachel Olsen, it’s an honest, funny, and sometimes messy conversation about…
This isn’t a podcast from someone who has everything figured out. It’s about figuring it out in real time.
Because sometimes the plan falls apart, the future changes, and you end up somewhere completely different than you expected. That doesn’t mean your life is over. It might just mean you’ve entered your plot twist era.
