All events hinge on "the sum of the whole". You are part of a team, so integrating yourself into the crew on site is AS important as when you called that consultation meeting and then insisted on attending a logistics meeting with the committee. A massive component, and the area where the most money is invested by any organizing committee, is the venue; but more to the point, the food. No one remembers what the venue looked like but they will always recall the food if it was lousy, or regale it if it was truly brilliant cuisine! This is as much to do with the quality of the service on the floor and in the kitchen as it is the quality of the actual food. BUT the service depends on coordination of the Dining Room Manager (or Maitre'D)....and for THAT reason they depend on YOU conducting the actual flow of the events.
