There are calls to keep parliament more focused on creating policy and laws.
This after MPs spent most of the first sitting hour of the new Parliamentary session, congratulating Kate and William on their new baby and singing a waiata.
They'd just returned from a two week break.

National Party MP Mark Mitchell told Mike Hosking it's worthwhile to recognise major events.
"Parliamentarians have the chance to stand up in Parliament and express those types of feelings, especially around the birth of Prince Louis, but it has to be kept short and to the point."
However, Labour's Stuart Nash said there's an easy way for parliament to cut back on time over events like this.
"If the Opposition feel that that is the best way to do it, then Simon Bridges doesn't have to stand up and repeat what Jacinda has already said."
