The Colossian world was one of competing voices that, as long as they were quieter than Caesar's, could be heeded with freedom.

A small, Christian movement was beginning on a simple idea: Jesus is over and above everything-even Caesar.

This message is no less obnoxious today in a culture where every idea is an equally valuable opinion until it actually does something-the Postmodern critique is a reminder to those following Jesus that we must BE what we BELIEVE.
