Text: Romans 9:19-24
Today, Paul takes up the familiar Old Testament metaphor of the potter and the clay to illustrate the central truth of the sovereignty of God in the matter of salvation. In these verses, Paul will first deal with a proud question, then provide a humbling rebuke, and then explain the potter's prerogative to do what He will with His own clay. What does it mean that God makes some vessels for honor and some for dishonor? And what is His purpose in doing so? This passage provides some key insights into both questions, while also addressing the age old question: why does God allow sin and evil in the world?
