The core of what Luke wants us to see today is that Christ, the promised Messiah has come—fulfilling the promises of God and the words of the prophets. He has come to bring the blessing of Abraham, the healing and restoring presence of the Kingdom of God to the nations. He has come to bring us the blessings of forgiveness, refreshment, and hope. But the only way to receive this blessing is to repent of all of the ways that we are pursuing blessedness outside of him and receive him. You cannot receive the blessedness that he offers without receiving the one who brings the blessing.
