The amazing thing about being on the radio is that you never know who is listening. Anyone could turn on the radio at any time and hear words that the Lord has meant for them to hear. This is what happened to Senator Jim Talent.Jim was a successful lawyer who was campaigning to be elected to the role of Missouri state representative. Growing up, he was taught by his parents the importance of right and wrong, and this led him to university and law school. In law school, he also started reading the Bible, looking for answers about life. While he respected God and justice, he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus. He knew all of the facts, but he did not want to give his life over to Christ.
That all changed when he heard me interviewed by Dr. Dobson on a Focus on the Family radio broadcast. Jim pulled into a parking lot, bowed his head, and prayed with me to give his life to Jesus. “At that point, I crossed over from death to life,” he said. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” – the only way to the Father and out of death is through Jesus.
Talent went on to have a successful career in politics. It just goes to show that you never know who is listening, or how God will speak. Be open to speaking the word of God to whoever you come into contact with—even if it’s through the radio.
