The Power of Embrace • Part 1

We become a part of God’s great story when we are embraced by Jesus Christ

  • An embrace that changes the trajectory of your life
  • You will never be the same
  • Transformative embrace means accepting someone to the point that you involve yourself in their story and their story becomes a part of your story.

    • John 9:1-12

    • Who sinned? How often do you attribute people’s misfortune to trouble of their own making.
      • Jesus: “neither he nor his parents sinned to cause his blindness”
      • We are all created in the image of God regardless of our circumstances.

        • Jesus sees the man, not just his current circumstances or his limitations

        • Jesus sees you and he is able to change your story.
        • Numbers 12
          • The very places of shame and brokenness are the places where God works in our lives.

            • Accounting for our embrace with Jesus brings focus to our lives.

            • John 9:13-17
            • The blind man was the only one who could see clearly.

              • The embrace of Jesus brings freedom and disruption

              • The cost of a transformed life
              • John 9:18-23
                • These parents had lived a tough life under suspicion from their community that their sin had caused their son’s blindness.
                • This man’s community and his own parents had rejected him.
                  • Freedom… and disruption.

                    • It can be a painful process to change the rhythm of your heart to match the rhythm of the heart of Jesus
