How Emily became a Talent Discovery Specialist and Coach: "After I received my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, I began working in adult day habilitation programs. These programs provide therapy and activities for adults diagnosed with intellectual and physical disabilities. I fell in love with the clients I worked with. There was something special and unique about each person I met. The people I worked with helped me realize that what I really wanted to be doing was shining the light on the talents and gifts within every human being. I wanted ALL people to be truly valued for their contributions and to find their place in society. This clarity led me to apply for the LEND fellowship program in which I was accepted in 2016. I spent my fellowship developing my vision and simple philosophy that when we look for and focus on who a person naturally is from the time they are a child and encourage them to be that, then pathways for the person to express this and contribute this to their communities will open up. From this vision, I created my life’s work and founded Finding Futures."
