The Power of “Maybe” and How to Use it to Reduce Any Stress

Listen Later

“Maybe” is not a wimpy word. It’s actually quite powerful. But we tend to think it seems uncertain, as though someone is hedging, or being non-committal. However, I actually love the word maybe. It’s one of my favorites.

I think “maybe” is a viable way to handle situations which are uncomfortable in the moment. It offers the opportunity to shift how you’re thinking or feeling in any circumstance, while affording you a bit of breathing room to process. So let’s talk about using the power of maybe to reduce stress.

“Maybe is a powerful word… it takes us a little bit out of that certainty… the need to be 100% right, meaning the other person is 100% wrong.” – Dr. Sara Dill
