Eavesdropping: Conversations with two Life Consultants

The Power of Mentoring

Listen Later

Children repeat the stories they see, so what does that mean for the kids who are witnessing terrible stories? When a child has a loving consistent adult, they begin to see that a different story is possible. Compound the number of consistent adults, and you're helping this kid build resilience. On this Episode of Eavesdropping, Melanie and Aaron discuss the critical role a mentor can play in the life of a child AND the role in the life of an adult. We may not be able to change the trauma a child experiences, but we can help a child build resilience and create a new narrative. We can do that for adults as well.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Aaron’s time with children from adverse backgrounds.
  • Finding purpose in suffering.
  • The fallacy that you need to be perfect to be a mentor.
  • Melanie’s journey to find her mentor.
  • The importance of inviting leadership into your life.
  • Thank you so much for listening! We would be so encouraged to hear from you. Please reach out if this episode helped you in any way.
