So what does being vulnerable look like?

Vulnerability is about embracing our humanity and embracing the messy, and not so perfect parts of ourselves.

How can we start embracing vulnerability in our lives?


Embracing vulnerability starts with self-acceptance and self-compassion. It's about recognizing that being vulnerable doesn't make us weak, but rather courageous. Start by acknowledging and accepting your emotions, even the uncomfortable ones. Share your thoughts and feelings with trusted friends or loved ones, allowing yourself to be seen and heard. And most importantly, practice self-compassion and remind yourself that vulnerability is a part of being human. Embracing vulnerability is a journey that requires self-compassion and the willingness to step outside of our comfort zone. 


What are some practices that can help us navigate this path?


Mindfulness and self-reflection are powerful tools to cultivate vulnerability and uncover the layers of vulnerability within ourselves. By becoming aware of our emotions, thoughts, and fears, we can better understand why we may hesitate to be vulnerable. Journaling or seeking therapy can also provide a safe space to explore our vulnerabilities and gain deeper insights into ourselves. And remember, vulnerability is a continuous practice, so be patient and kind to yourself throughout the journey. 


As a personal example: I remember a time when I was struggling with anxiety and felt isolated in my struggles. It was only when I mustered the courage to open up to two close friends about my fears and vulnerabilities that I realized I was not alone. Sharing my vulnerabilities not only strengthened our friendship but also created a support system that helped me navigate through that challenging period. It was a powerful reminder of the transformative power of being vulnerable.


My advice to anyone struggling to embrace vulnerability is to remember that it is not a weakness; it's a strength that allows us to forge deeper connections and grow as individuals. Be kind to yourself, practice self-compassion, and step into vulnerability, knowing that it holds the power to transform your life in unimaginable ways.
