NINA SIMONS is Co-founder and Chief Relationship Officer at Bioneers and leads its
Everywoman’s Leadership program. Throughout her career spanning the nonprofit,
social entrepreneurship, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, Nina has worked with
nearly a thousand diverse women leaders across disciplines, race, class, age and
orientation to create conditions for mutual learning, trust and leadership development.
She co-edited Moonrise: The Power of Women Leading from the Heart, and authored
Nature, Culture, and the Sacred: A Woman Listens for Leadership—released as a
second edition in 2022 with an accompanying discussion guide and embodied
practices. The first edition won Nautilus awards in the categories of Women in the 21st
Century and Social Change & Social Justice. Both books are being used to inspire and
ignite learning in individuals, circles and classrooms.

I recently had the gift of sitting with author, speaker and social justice advocate, Nina
Simons. Starting with how one of the patriarchy’s primary tactics for maintaining
dominant control is to prevent women from discovering their full potential as leaders
provided a rich and potent conversation. The patriarchy, justifiably, fears that when
women come together in relationships built on trust, they have the power to develop
each other’s leadership skills profoundly and rapidly. As Nina and I discussed, women
are moving past the time of letting the patriarchy’s fear become their limitation.
As Nina shared from her years of study, a primary contributor to the hyper-
masculinization in which we have been living starting with The Burning Times. 300
years of persecution of women has left deep-seated epigenetic trauma that still effects
all people of our current generations.
As the listener will hear, Nina is unwavering in her hearts knowing that as women break
free from the labels that have been bequeathed to them, we will all become the powerful

leaders who will transform our world. And Nina is committed to opening new pathways
for us to make this our collective reality.
