Dr. Tanyag reminds us of where our true strength lies in these tumultuous times, sharing her research and findings to inspire and achieve our collective power.
Dr Maria Tanyag is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Relations of the Australian National University, and an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) Fellow. She is author of the book The Global Politics of Sexual and Reproductive Health (Oxford University Press, 2024). Since its publication, the book has won multiple book prizes including the International Studies Association Lee Ann Fujii Book Award and the Australian Political Studies Association Crisp Book Prize. She was selected as one of the inaugural ISA Emerging Global South Scholars in 2019, as resident Women, Peace, and Security Fellow at Pacific Forum (Hawaii) in 2021, and as a British Academy Visiting Fellow in 2023. Maria specialises in critical and feminist approaches to global peace and security, focusing on the Asia Pacific region and the Philippines in particular.
