Notes:
How do I become the “me” I want to be?
I Want to Be: Kind – Thoughtful – Secure – Helpful – Active – Generous
I am: Angry – Selfish – Jealous – Prideful – Lazy – Greedy
Sometimes we get stuck being the “me” we don’t want to be
We trick ourselves into believing that wanting to change is the same as the willingness to change.
The change we want requires a power and path we don’t naturally have.
He called a little child and had him stand among them. Then he said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: Unless you change and become like little children…
…you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: The space/place where God’s way/rule (goodness) is lived out
INFANT - Totally dependent
TEENAGER - Pursuing independence
CHILD - Securely interdependent
There’s a trust and love that surrenders to our Heavenly Father’s guidance instead of our own
OBSTACLES:
Dysfunctional TRUST
Different PATH
Dependent POWER
Without the willingness to surrender, we stay stuck, wanting change without actually experiencing it.
