Notes:
A distorted view hinders us from seeing the correct path AND eventually leads to damage and dysfunction
Emotionally: I feel so…
Financially: I deserve so…
Sexually: I desire so …
Relationally: I expect so…
ALL of us are born with the distorted view of self-centeredness
How do we undistort our view so we can walk a path that avoids damage and dysfunction?
Sometimes we get stuck being the “me” we don’t want to be
The change we want requires a power and path we don’t naturally have.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise person who built their house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock.”
“But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish person who built their house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
The instructions and commands (words) of Jesus create clarity so we can walk the correct path that leads to life
REVEALS - God’s goodness and grace
REFLECTS - Humanity’s defective condition
REDIRECTS - Our faulty views & broken patterns
God gives us the Scriptures as a “corrective lens” so we can walk the path that leads to life
