In this section, we will learn a little bit of biology to understand how this breathwork, or pranayama works. Most neurons in the body are located in the brain and its vicinity; – is called the central nervous system . On the other hand, throughout the body there are an abundant number of peripheral nerve cells. That means the nerves that are outside of the brain and the spinal chord. And, these are so numerous in the gut that they have been collectively called "the second brain." Anujeevi Nirodhaka Pranayama works at this second brain level, which is otherwise known as the gut.

With the right amount of acid in your stomach, with hormones working optimally, your gut is now prepared, it is armed to fight any intruder.
