Day By Day: Spiritual Practices that Shape Our Lives

The Practice of Study

Rev. Shuler Sitsch

June 28, 2026

What is Scripture for, and why do we study it?

In this sermon, Rev. Shuler Sitsch continues our series Day By Day: Spiritual Practices that Shape Our Lives by looking at 2 Timothy 3:14-17. Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, correction, and training in righteousness, but it was never meant to be treated as a trophy, a trivia test, or a tool for winning arguments. Scripture is given to us so that we might be shaped, challenged, and sent out to live more like Jesus.

As followers of Jesus, we study Scripture not just to know more, but to be formed more deeply in love for God and neighbor.

Guiding Question:

How does studying Scripture shape us to live more like Jesus?
