In Mark 8:1–10, a great multitude has been following Jesus for three days with nothing left to eat. Rather than sending them away hungry, Jesus looks upon them with compassion and performs another remarkable miracle—feeding approximately 4,000 people with only seven loaves and a few small fish.

But this passage is about more than multiplying bread.

It reveals the compassion of Jesus, the power of Jesus, and the continuing struggle of His disciples to understand who is standing right in front of them.
