100 years after Nineveh repented because of Jonah’s preaching, they are steeped in evil and wicked acts against God’s people, the nation of Judah. God’s actions toward the Assyrians is an Old Testament picture of a New Testament reality: Christ will return as the Avenging God-Man who will save His people and punish the Evildoer.
