To get to the rich pastures of the mountains, the sheep had to go through the valleys. The valleys were the best routes to the top because the valleys had the gentlest grades and slopes and were well watered. Rich pastures were found here too. In the cool mountains of the summer time, the shepherd and the sheep are very close.
