I had a crush on Chrissie Hynde in the early 80s.  She could do no wrong.  And she was the real deal.  She was tough, and it showed.  If there's any doubt, just listen to "Precious", the opening track of the Pretender's debut album.  It's punk-driven rock with sharp concrete-jungle lyrics that conjure images of seedy bars and dark underground tattoo parlors.
