The Priest

Listen Later

Some will say that the Old Testament has no place in today's world however, it teaches us what was to come from within the New Testaments. A tabernacle, covenant and a priest was needed in the Old Testament for the Jews. Exodus 25:8 was the start of the tabernacle. Heb 9:1-5 Heb 9:6-8 explains that this way was temporary meaning Christ would come to change it and make a better way. Having a sacrifice for a sin was a horrible thing. Perfect, innocent sheep and other animals having their necks sliced and their blood drawn for the sins of the Jews. Christ would soon come as a sacrifice one time and forever more.

The Priest
Lev 16:2-4
The only one that could come into the Holy of Holies was one appointed person which was the High Priest. The high priest, Aaron was to use the sacrifice first and offer it up because he himself was not perfect. Then he had to go out and back and use the two goats, a scapegoat and an offering goat and sacrifice one of the goats. The blood was then offered up for the people's sins. The priest had to be clean, not only from sin but his flesh also. We have lost over time the word of God because of the easiness of grace. The Jew knew that they had to prepare themselves for God, we usually do not.
Heb 5:1-3
The priest was chosen from among men. Christ was taken among men (born as a human).
Heb 5:4-10
Jesus was born as a man to suffer as a man but remained sinless.
Heb 4:14-16
Jesus Christ is our now high priest, forever more.
Underneath the grace was a way paved in blood all the while saying there is but only ONE way to God.
