What is true and what makes something true?

While these concepts seem easy to identify, once we begin to dive into the linguistic approaches to truth, it becomes more apparent why there seem to be such discrepancies in what is accepted as true by different people. We often espouse the idea that there is one truth, but several of the existing theories that seek to define truths and what makes them true take under consideration that there may be multiple truths for a given situation or even that there is none.
