What do you get when educational, legal, governmental, or even familial settings or systems are based purely on one human being's opinion versus another human being's opinion? That's right. You get absolute chaos and ultimately destruction. In Dr. Paul's discussion on The Problem of Human Autonomy, he briefly goes back in time to a point where human beings started to believe that they could solve their problems with minimal involvement and/or inaction with God's "opinion." He goes on to show how human self-governance apart from godly intervention has always led to decline in civility, if not simply rationality, among humans. From there, in an effort to fill the void, humans then prop up their idols—an act of rationalism—only to turn right around and reject them—an act of irrationalism, culminating in the need to return to God and His Word for guidance.
