Sex education in Singapore has had a bad reputation for a while already, especially for its heavy emphasis on abstinence. Whether it is the fact that sex is still a taboo topic amongst Singaporeans or that there is a lack of teachers willing and qualified to talk about it, the sex education syllabus has neglected many aspects of sex that might prove useful to students.
