A down-and-out Broadway producer latches on to a hairbrained scheme to swindle a batch of wealthy elderly women out of a piece of their fortunes in return for a share in his latest disaster, I mean masterpiece. Partnered with his timid accountant, the two must uncover the worst play ever written, produce it with unimaginably bad talent and reap the rewards of closing the performance  just after one night. Can the duo find a surefire dud, or will they succeed, and in the process fail, in spite of themselves?
