The Scripture reading is from 2 Samuel 7:1-17. After David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and the land was at peace David desired to build a temple for the Ark and the presence of God. It sounded like a good idea to Nathan; but they preceded without consulting God and God quickly spoke to Nathan and David about his real desires. God clearly desires to walk among his people and he doesn’t need a building to do that.
