Kailey Newkirk // God promised to end war, and he has struck the decisive blow, but there are still casualties as we await his return. When we live in ignorance of his forever-victory, we end up fighting wars against all the wrong people. Isaiah prophesies that one day, every weapon of war will be cast into the fire, because they will no longer be useful. Spears will be bent back into pruning hooks, because we'll be at peace with every neighbor in the kingdom of God.

This reality has already begun, but we wait for its completion--and furthermore, we participate in it's completion by restoring peace between ourselves and others (no matter how "other" they are).
