Sweetly romantic short story
Hank was late again for dinner, but Ruth didn't mind. His job as a fireman meant life was always a bit chaotic. As long as he came home to her at the end of the day, she was blissfully content.
She didn't know that tonight would be a night like no other...
The Proposal - Book One NYC is the first audiobook in this romantic short story series. These short stories celebrate the power of true love. Each takes place in a different US state. The Proposal series contains no violence, no swearing, and no intimacy, so they are suitable for teens and up.
You can listen to the audiobooks one-by-one as they are released, or you can listen to the boxed sets. The boxed sets are compiled immediately after reaching each 10-book milestone. It's your choice! Some listeners enjoy giving feedback as I write while others would rather binge-listen in blocks.
A portion of all proceeds benefits battered women's shelters.

3.5 Stars for Vivid Writing
I was so close to giving this short story four stars because of the strong start, moments of fresh writing ("they fit together like the eight-ball neatly nestling in a corner pocket") and the author's adeptness at describing unique characters and their unique world in very concrete terms - so that that story hits you with all senses. However, where the story fell short for me was in the dialogue and plot. I felt the dialogue was too "on the nose" - any smidgen of subtext felt cliche and there weren't really any surprises for the reader or deeper revelations of the characters in their dialogue with one another...which was a shame because there was great character description to make them unique...unfortunately, when they opened their mouths they reverted more and more into stock characters without any originality. The plot also suffered from predictability. That said, I am interested to read more of Ms. Shea in the future and see how her writing progresses.
"A Wonderful Quick Read"
This is a short 10-page romance story which takes place in New York City. Hank is late meeting Ruth for dinner at the restaurant. Ruth understands since Hank is a fireman and plans must be changed abruptly at times. She has a hectic day job caring for hyperactive toddlers. When will they ever find time to actually get married? He does arrive for dinner and they barely finish their meal when Hank's cell phone rings and he rushes out of the restaurant. Wow! This is such a stunning, well written short story! I'm going to continue reading Lisa's series. She's very creative and her story excited me. Let's move on together ... read this shorty...you'll have no regrets!
Forever Love
Best proposal ever! From beginning to end this short was powerful.
Not bad.
Not bad writing for as short as it is. I would say the author managed to pack in a lot of story in very few words. My only complaint is how Hank is called away suddenly. I don't want to give it away, but it just didn't feel particularly realistic.
Powerful Short Love Story
A fast-paced, edge-of-the-seat, short story that delivers in every area. May want to have a couple of tissues handy.
