May is Mental Health Awareness Month. And here at Pieces to Wellness podcast, every day is mental health awareness day! Even with the best mental health routine, we all still need a little spring cleaning between the ears. What habits continue to serve us and which ones do not serve us anymore? What's hiding in the basement collecting dust? What ideas, beliefs, and values need to be purged? Mentally we hold on to thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and habits that only clutter our sacred mental landscape. Spring cleaning helps us clear out space in our mental homes for new beliefs, values, and ideas while we also take inventory of all the stuff that we may have forgotten about. Interestingly, purging the actual junk from our physical spaces helps us clear out space internally as well. Making room for new beliefs, values, and habits that support our wellness.
Spring cleaning doesn't have to be a huge purge.
Try taking it a little bit at a time; clear off one surface, or the inside of a cabinet, or set a timer and breathe deeply and intentionally for 60 seconds. See what creating space externally and internally does for your mental health. By going through our inner and outer environments piece by piece, we can purge what's no longer needed, creating space for the things that serve our wellness.
Spring also means we're getting out into the community! Come out and support us… support mental health!
Come see us this Saturday May 4th at the Children's Mental Health Awareness Fair put on by NAMI - Capital Region at Colonie Center (LL Bean entrance)from 11 am - 3 pm.
