Handout ConfusionJohn 3:9-17
Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a religious leader.
Being born again or born of the Spirit confused Nicodemus. John 3:4, 9, 10
Jesus used earthly things to illustrate heavenly things. John 3:6-8, 12
So Jesus used an Old Testament story to help Nicodemus understand.
SnakesNumbers 21:4-9
The Jews complained about God and Moses.
God punished the Jews with venomous snakes.
They begged that God remove the snakes but God did not. Rather God provided a cure Verse 8
All who looked at the bronze serpent were cured because God was willing and able to cure them. Verse 8
Why Jesus?John 3:14-16
Believe in Jesus and be saved.
