Jesus presented a number of stories to illustrate how the Kingdom of God is to be pursued — its like a hidden treasure that is found in a field and the finder sells all that he has to buy the field; its like a beautiful, incredibly valuable pearl that a pearl merchant discovers and sells all that he has to acquire it. If we have truly seen the Kingdom, then we, likewise, will do whatever it takes to get it!
