Today’s Scripture:

‭John 8:31-32 (NIV)

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, 'If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

The question behind this devotional is: What Kind of Person Do I want to be at the End of My Life? Have you ever thought of that? Have you asked yourself that question? Family is the person we need to chase and become. Truth must be a core value in my life. Jesus would pursue truth wherever it led him. 

The Bible says in John 14:6 (NIV), “Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” That's the essence of Jesus's life, he pursued truth. Here's the thing with Jesus: he is the truth. He says I am the way, the truth, and the life. Not only was his life based on truth, but he was also the embodiment of truth; he didn't just teach it; he was the ultimate truth.  What's your life based on? Chasing fame, fortune, Money, notoriety, and accolades? 

Our lives should be more than that; there's a generation that is lost without the truth. Their truth is what they say it is, and not who it is. Jesus Christ, the truth and the life. We must pursue truth in every area of our lives. His truth transforms our lives. Jesus was all about truth. He says to Pilate in John 18:37 (NIV), “...Jesus answered, 'You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

That's a life that's in pursuit of truth. He says my whole purpose for coming into the world was to testify of the truth. Family, we need to reflect on this pursuit; we need to reflect on the truth. As Believers, we are called to live a life of truth based on the word of God. When we pursue truth, it sets us free. Jesus says you will know the truth and it will set you free. This truth liberates us from the bondage of sin, but we must obey his word. Jesus says if you follow and obey my teachings, you'll be my disciples. You're not a disciple until you obey God's word; you're not free until you live God's word. Family, as Christ's followers, let's pursue truth so that we can be free to share truth with the world. A life of truth is a life of freedom.
