The Qantas Dispute: A Long Haul with Many Rough Landings Ahead?

Qantas management's decision to bring an industrial dispute to a head by

grounding the national carrier's entire fleet was ill-advised and will
result in further widespread fallout, insist experts from the Australian
School of Business. The airline that tags itself the "Spirit of
Australia" may be flying again and trying to appease thousands of
inconvenienced passengers with free flights, but the effect of the
action was felt across the globe. In Australia, the already-challenged
tourism industry is yet to measure its consequences. Has a rash decision
hastened embattled Qantas' demise? Or will the damaged once-illustrious
brand navigate through the extreme turbulence ahead?
