Season 2, Episode 1 of QQ&A explores the 40th anniversary of the Sexual Law Reform Bill through conversations with community members. Guests Rikki and Aatir reflect on how decriminalisation changed social attitudes, sharing personal stories about family reactions, community support, and the ongoing work needed to ensure safety and inclusion for ethnic, BIPOC, and older rainbow people.

The episode emphasises the importance of holding shared spaces, acknowledging history, and creating policies that address intersectional needs so all can move from survival to thriving.

In this episode of QQ&A Season 2, four ethnic rainbow community members—Zee, Vaibhav, Rika, and Gigi—share personal stories about navigating culture, family, and queer identity in Aotearoa. They discuss challenges like safety, shame, racism, and colourism, and the tension between collective cultural values and individual expression.

The guests offer practical ways to uplift diverse voices: creating safe, culturally grounded spaces, paying and centering community experts, passing the mic, investing in leadership pathways, and embedding everyday inclusion beyond tokenism.
