The Boston Celtics open the 2024-2025 Season by demolishing the Knicks. The New York Knicks crafted trades through-out the off-season to beat the defending champion Boston Celtics. Only for the Celtics to tie a record for the most three pointers in a game, demolishing the Knicks.
Opening night ended with a 132-109 final score. The Celtics dominated in nearly every facet of the game. A complete demolishing of the Knicks. Jayson Tatum led the way with a wildly efficient night showing off his new and improved jump shot. The Knicks had no answer for the versatile champions lineup where every player can score, defend, shoot, rebound, and most importantly pass. An incredible performance for Boston without their star Center Kristaps Porzingis, who will miss the first month or two of the season.
The Celtics tied the record for most three point shots in game with 29 made threes, almost 50% from beyond the arch. The offense ran free with wise passing opening up free shots all over the court. New York had no answer for the onslaught of threes until the record was tied. That’s when Boston shot 0-13 down the stretch in a desperate attempt to break the record. Coach Mazzulla pulled the starters with almost a 40-point lead only for the bench to chuck up missed shot after missed shot. A disappointing end to a stellar night that all fans in Celtics nation will gladly live with.
The Boston-New York rivalry runs deep and is as alive as ever. Any win against the Knicks especially in such dominating fashion plasters a smile on faces of players and fans. For a team to repeat as NBA Champions they have to have a special level of determination, and so far this team is showing they are ready for the challenge.
