Disappointing & not worth buying
Chapter One was excellent. Then the storyline progressed so fast and was so unbelievable that I couldn't believe it was a Rebecca Winters book. In addition, new characters were introduced & not fleshed out. The editors must have spent overtime cutting out content while over embellishing the traits of the hero.
Good
it was alright. It was not on series that I wanted. I was reading the rancher series and this was part of it.
A Mediocre Title for an Engaging Romance Book
Colt Brannigan did not want to hire another ex-convict. The previous one stole from his family. When another request came, Colt told them no. Geena Williams, released from prison after the real murderer was captured, traveled down to the Brannigan's ranch to apply for the housekeeper position. Finally winning Colt over, Geena proved her worth. But can they put their pasts behind them to start a new future together?
This book encompassed all that I like about the Harlequin Romance line. As I was reading, the story just flowed so easily from one chapter to the next that I was breezing through until I was, sadly, already at the end. The plot is pretty light, despite the serious topic. And this is jam packed with good scenes between these twos. The main characters were awesome. There are not many people like them in this day and age and I appreciated such genuine people. However, the side characters were the ones who had less than stellar attitudes. LOL This is a clean romance.
Would I recommend? Definitely for people who love sweet, simple romance novels, with a smidgen of good drama. If you like Christian romances, this is perfect to you as well. If you like passion and drama, pass this one up. It will not suit your taste. The only reason I gave this a 4 and not a 5 is because I would not probably not read this again. But definitely worth the one time read.
Sweet jesus...
I must admit that this type of book isn't normally on my radar when it comes to reading, but I was in a foreign country on vacation and this was the only book in the hotel's library shelf that was in English, so I gave it a go. Three hours later I was dumbfound that one could make money writing such tripe.
I will not attack the "novel" for being a G-rated romance that is, I could only assume, targeted for Jr. High girls. Having a target audience is just fine, but the writing doesn't have to be Jr. High quality itself.
Memorable scenes included the main character adopting her deceased brother's baby (which took nothing more than a signature) from a convent after finding out through a DNA test the legitacmy of the baby. Mind you, the main character was just released from prison weeks prior and where is the mother of this baby you ask? Oh, she is in prison herself for going down the evil paths of marijuana usage.
