Many people read the Bible and think it's not a book we're supposed to take literally. This idea is easy to see in many of the seeker friendly type of churches out there today. There are many that won't speak of Hell, or anything that would make their members uncomfortable. Pastor David wants to be sure not to do us a disservice. He wants to teach us the whole truth. If that means making us uncomfortable because we have to face our sin, then so be it. This way we are prepared with the whole truth.
