THE REAL REASON WHY WE ARE STILL AROUND-1 KINGS 14-21 - 15-24--INTRODUCTION---Nevertheless for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, -by setting up his son after him and by establishing Jerusalem.-1 KINGS 15-4---Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed,-Because His compassions fail not.-They are new every morning--Great is Your faithfulness.-LAMENTATION 3-22-23---who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, -that those who practice such things are deserving of death, -not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.-ROMANS 1-32----1- REHOBOAM- THE KING WHO WAS BAD--1 KINGS 14-22 - Now Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done.--1 KINGS 14-23-24 -1- Built high places--2- Built sacred pillars--3- Constructed wooden images everywhere--4- Had male ritual prostitutes--Abominations- Cf. LEVITICUS 18-25-27 ---I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. -If he commits iniquity, -I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.-2 SAMUEL 7-14--Shameful consequence- the loss of prosperity -verses 25-28--Painful consequence- the loss of peace -verse 30-- -2- ABIJAM- THE KING WHO WASN'T ANY BETTER--15-3 - And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him- his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.-------3- ASA- THE KING WHO WAS BETTER BUT STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH--15-11 - Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did his father David---15-14 - . . .
