I just got back from Italy, and it is summer in Oregon now, the most beautiful time of the year here.
The light stretches long into the evening, the river is warm, everything is alive. And I have spent the whole week thinking about something I cannot stop seeing. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it either.
Here is what I noticed.
I have clients right now, this same week, in this same summer, telling me that nobody wants to buy in the summer. Everyone’s on vacation, they say. Maybe I should just wait until fall.
And I have other clients, the same week, the same summer, having five-figure weeks.
Same season. Same economy. Same world. Completely opposite results.
For a long time I would have gone looking for the difference in their strategy. A better funnel, a better offer, better timing.
But that is not where the difference lives. The difference is in what each of them believes, and who each of them has decided to be.
Let me show you.
The first client does not love working in the summer. She would rather be at the river, and honestly, good for her. But here is the quiet thing that happens. Because she does not want to be selling, some part of her has decided that nobody wants to be buying.
And a belief like that does not stay hidden. She transmits it. It is in the softness of her offers, the little shrug in her words, the way she lets everyone off the hook before they even decide.
Without meaning to, she is giving her whole audience permission to wait. So they wait. She handed her belief to her buyers, and they handed it right back as a no.
The second client is flipping houses this summer and she is lit up about it. She cannot wait for women to see what is possible.
When she talks about her work, there is no hedging and no apology, just this clean certainty, like of course you would want this, of course now is the time. And her people feel it.
They feel the conviction in their body before they ever read the price. And they say yes. She handed her belief to her buyers too, and they handed it back as a yes.
Write this down, because it is the whole thing. Your buyers do not catch the market’s mood. They catch yours.
There is no such thing as a slow season. There is only a slow belief.
And your business, bless it, is loyal. It will go out into the world and find evidence for whatever you have decided is true.
Decide that summer is dead, and your business will bring you a dead summer, gift-wrapped, just to prove you right. Decide that you are a woman people are lining up to work with, and watch who starts showing up.
This is not woo. This is identity. Who you have quietly decided you are is leaking into every offer you make, every post you write, every conversation you have.
And people are not really buying your service anyway. They are buying your certainty. They are buying the felt sense of a woman who knows she is worth it, and knows her work changes lives.
So the question was never, is it a good time to sell. The real question, the only one that matters, is who are you being while you sell.
If you read this and felt a little caught, good. That is not a problem to fix. It is a door to walk through. You do not have to manufacture confidence or fake an energy you do not feel.
You just have to notice the belief you have been running, the one about summer, or about money, or about whether people really want what you do, and decide on purpose whether it is even true.
Because the woman having the five-figure summer is not luckier than you. She is not more talented than you. She simply decided, and then she let her business catch up.
It is summer. It is beautiful. And it can absolutely be your season, the moment you decide it is.
If you are done waiting for fall, and you want help becoming the woman who sells from certainty, this is exactly the work I do. I am opening a few spots in Summer Sales this week, thirty days of making your offers and signing clients together, with me right beside you. Reply to this, or comment SUMMER, and I’ll tell you how it works.
