Let’s get one thing straight, ask any CPA
Most laws in the US -  cater to real estate
The only thing real about this state
is how we view those without a place

To hibernate or accommodate
regulate - even refrigerate!
how great isn’t it?
for all us to be able to create today

We got 44 shows on buildin’ and flippin’ homes
how many show what it’s like without a home?

When we count ‘em on a single night,
We get around ½ million in sight.
What about all the ones we missed?

The ones that were pushed into medical debts?
The ones on the frontlines and now jobless?
The ones released from a prison sentence?
The ones that run from domestic violence?
The ones whose parents question what their sex is?
Don’t even get me started on these housing prices!

You think it’s houseless by choice?
See, that’s the seed that destroys
the hope that we trynna to plant
by Housing First isn’t a gallavant

But it’s the City’s arrogance banning everything,
no camping, no lying, no loitering
you got a car well best not be living in it
cuz next week’s street sweep,
hope you ready for it

Can’t the dweller stay up in a shelter?
Hmmmm lets see if that’s true
8pm curfews, 7am they kickin you
out the door, hey good luck on that interview

the position no longer exists…..

Not enough beds when they gouge the rent
Only ~10% of the houseless end up with a  mattress,

I gotta home, beds and sheets,
pretty lucky if you ask me
 favorite movie is The Last Mimzy
It’s a story about how we lost our humanity
We walking that path, with all this talk of NIMBY!
Put our people first, not your home’s equity
Give ‘em the keys and let ‘em breathe
So they can finally feel what’s it like
to be a human being.
