Awakened to Deliver – The Reality of Hell, Day 3: What Hell Feels Like
Key Verse: Luke 16:23–24 — “And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’”
Episode Highlights
• Jesus’ account of the rich man and Lazarus reveals the reality of hell — a place of conscious torment, memory, and regret.
• The rich man could see, hear, feel, and remember — showing that the soul remains fully aware.
• Hell is unending agony — emotional, mental, and physical (Rev. 14:11).
• The thirst in hell represents separation from God, the true source of life (Ps. 42:2).
• Every soul there remembers opportunities for repentance — a memory that brings eternal sorrow (Luke 16:25).
• Jesus called it “outer darkness,” a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12).
• The chasm is fixed — no second chances after death (Luke 16:26; Heb. 9:27).
• Hell is eternal separation from God, the Light of the World (1 John 1:5).
• The rich man begged for his family to be warned — but in hell, repentance comes too late.
• On the cross, Jesus bore our separation so we’d never have to (Matt. 27:46).
• The Gospel is the only escape — Christ entered the fire and conquered it with His blood.
